Park Medicean Of Little Meadow

A few kilometers from our campsite, immersed in the greenery of the Florentine hills, there is one of the most fascinating places in Tuscany: the Medici Park of Pratolino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with the other Medici villas and gardens in the region.

With its over 150 hectares of extension, of which 50 can be visited, the Park is a masterpiece of landscape art and hydraulic engineering. A place where history, nature and creativity have intertwined for centuries, giving visitors a unique experience.

⭐A Journey into the Renaissance

The Park was commissioned in 1568 by Francesco I de' Medici, who transformed it into a true wonder of his time: artificial grottos, scenic fountains, colossal statues, water games and small theaters moved by ingenious hydraulic devices. The famous Colossus of the Apennines, a work by Giambologna, still dominates the landscape as a symbol of the park.

During the Renaissance, Pratolino was considered a European model of garden art: so much so that its technical solutions were imitated in the parks of Salzburg, Heidelberg and Saint Germain en Laye.

⭐Nature and relaxation among avenues, lakes and panoramas

Today the Park preserves its magic intact. Winding avenues, wide meadows, groves and lakes invite you to take regenerating walks, ideal for the whole family. The theme of water is still the protagonist: it is found in the fountains, in the water games, in the caves and in the suggestive views that make every visit unforgettable.
